Priorities and Opportunities

Rigorous, Community-Connected Classroom Instruction and Expanded, Enriched Learning Opportunities

Teacher Training: Provide additional professional development for teachers to ensure they consistently offer encouragement and support when students are struggling.

Establish a dedicated after-school tutoring period, separate from other extracurricular activities, ensuring students get academic support when they need it most.

Collaborative Leadership, Shared Power, and Voice

Make PTA Participation More Accessible: Create smaller volunteer roles or subcommittees that allow parents to participate in ways that fit their time and skill set.

Increase Virtual PTA Engagement: Implement virtual PTA meetings, which could accommodate working parents or those with limited mobility.

Integrated Systems of Support

Promote Access to Mental Health Services: Increase awareness of counseling services by promoting them on the school website, through newsletters, and during student assemblies.

Provide students with clear, accessible instructions on how to access counseling services at any time.

Increase Awareness of Available Resources: Share information about available resources, such as mental health resources, transportation

Culture of Belonging, Safety, and Care

Bullying Awareness Programs: Given that bullying is identified as a significant issue, increase the focus on bullying prevention. Implement regular bullying awareness campaigns.

Cultural Awareness and Celebrations: Address the need for more cultural awareness & promote inclusion through student-led cultural events, art, and presentations that honor different heritages

Powerful Student and Family Engagement

Host More Family-Oriented Events: Organize more events that encourage family involvement beyond just school hours

Provide Transportation for Families: Recognize that some families, especially those from areas like Waverly and Tuscarora, struggle with transportation.
